Company History
Charles M. Reilly founded Reilly Plating Company in April 1969 at a location on New Hancock Street in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The firm was a pioneer in the application of Electroless Nickel, a fairly new technology at the time that applied Nickel Coatings to metals without the use of electricity. The coating was applied to semiconductor components for RCA in Mountaintop, PA.
In 1970 the firm moved to its current 27 acre location, in Nanticoke, Pa. It made this move to acquire both the facility and land it needed to expand its productivity and product line. The company added Chrome, Zinc, Gold, Silver and Tin alloy coatings to a variety of customers in the electronic, aircraft, and office furniture industries. The firm grew steadily over the 1970's and 1980's from a small 8000 square foot facility to a 40,000 square foot facility. Automatic hoists and finishing machines were also added to remain competitive with the rapidly growing foreign markets.
Joseph Reilly, current owner of the facility, became president of the company in 1989 upon the retirement of his father. In the 1990's, with the luxury of 27 acres of property, the company further grew by adding a second 40,000 square foot facility. This was done to accommodate the additional processes of powder coating and electropolishing. It was at this point in time that the name was changed to "Reilly Finishing Technologies". This name was deemed more appropriate due to the fact that the company had moved from having not only plating processes but also powder coating, manufacturing, warehousing, assembly, final packaging and an expanded fleet of trucks to be use for pickup and delivery. These and other "value added" services keeps Reilly Finishing Technologies well ahead of the curve.
Reilly Finishing Technologies takes pride in the fact that it has been recognized with awards from both the EPA and DEP regarding the company's continued leadership in meeting environmentally friendly targets with regards to processes, energy conservation and waste treatment.
As the market place changes, the firm continues to look for areas of new growth such as certifications as with AS9100D Aerospace Quality System, ISO 9001:2015, and RoHS for it processes and even more value added services for its customers.
